Mobilise USA - What’s in a Name Change?
Submitted by Mobilise on 26 June, 2009 - 10:45In the USA, students and twenties have been gathering for the past few years for an annual event called Clear Vision. This year, Clear Vision became Mobilise USA, and what appeared to be simply a change in nomenclature actually represented a significant transition for the conference. Lynn Fleshman from Christ's Church of Joplin, Missouri reports from the event.
Andrew Wilson Interview
Submitted by Mobilise on 25 June, 2009 - 12:39Andrew Wilson is a busy, busy man. He is the author of three books, a hugely popular preacher and whilst we have no medical verification for this, we suspect he has the largest brain in the Northern Hemisphere. We are delighted to have him as a main stage speaker for Mobilise 2009. So ahead of the conference, Liam Thatcher caught up with him to talk about life, work and his latest book, GodStories.
Recommended Talk XVII

In it he explores how to set our minds on things above and to learn how to position ourselves to see more prophetic encounters in our lives. Click here to listen
Change of Seminar Speaker
Submitted by Mobilise on 23 June, 2009 - 11:04Mobilise 2009 is only two weeks away and seminars are booking up quickly. However, disaster has befallen one of our speakers and so we have to announce a last minute change in seminar speaker.
Nick Chatrath was scheduled to speak on the Wednesday with the title: How can I believe in God when there's so much suffering? But in an odd twist of irony he has incurred an injury to his achilles tendon and as a result will be unable to be with us.
But never fear, we have aquired a worthy replacement and the seminar will go ahead as planned! So may I introduce you to our new seminar speaker:

Toby Skipper
Toby is the husband of one wonderful wife, father of three beautiful children, proud owner of four ordinary chickens (having killed one!) and reluctant owner of one angry cat. He became a Christian at 25, and is an elder at King’s Community Church, Norwich, where they have just started their first multi-site location on a local council estate.
This is a subject Toby has spoken on a number of times, and we are confident he will do a great job at filling Nick's shoes. So come with expectation and a readiness to learn. It's going to be great!

Andrew Wilson - GodStories
Submitted by Mobilise on 19 June, 2009 - 11:55Many of you will know Andrew Wilson. If you don’t, let me introduce you. He is the author of Deluded by Dawkins and Incomparable, a regular favourite Mobilise seminar speaker, he runs an FP-Impact training base and excitingly is one of our main stage speakers at Mobilise 2009.
If you’ve heard him speak or read his work then you will be excited to know that his latest book is soon to be released. GodStories: Explorations in the Gospel of God is a remarkable book that surveys the many ways in which the gospel is expressed throughout Scripture. In bitesize chunks Andrew lays out truth after truth after truth to help us see the biblical gospel as a grand mosaic of GodStories.
Here’s what people are saying about it:
‘Andrew Wilson is a remarkably gifted writer, and in GodStories he brings the Bible to life in new and accessible ways.’ (Wayne Grudem, Phoenix Seminary)
‘This is a fascinating book that makes the Bible and its author both accessible and vibrantly alive – if you want to know God better, I thoroughly recommend it.’ (Mike Pilavachi, Founder of Soul Survivor)
‘Andrew possesses a zeal for the gospel (in its beauty, genius and Christ-Centred drama) and a unique art of vivid communication.’ (Joel Virgo, Church of Christ the King)

Why is Newfrontiers passionate about reaching University Students? (Part 2)
Submitted by Mobilise on 18 June, 2009 - 13:42In the United Kingdom there is an incredible need for churches to reach out to university students. God is blessing us with ever-increasing numbers of students in Higher Education. The statistics are astonishing:

In 2006/2007 there were 2,011,345 Higher Education Students in the UK. (Source: Universities UK Facts and Figures Document Summer 2008) That is approximately the population of Latvia!
-
Around 80% of parents who did not attend university now regret their decision and say they would encourage their children to go to university. (Source: BBC)
-
Currently 39.8% of 18-30 year olds are in Higher Education, and the Government target is for this to rise to 50% by 2010. (Source: The Guardian)

‘"My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”’ (John 4:34-35)
