In the last 20 years we have seen a 90% decline in attendance of under twenties in UK churches and 59% of UK churches now have no 15-19s attending. That means that most people you know have no idea about Jesus and what he could mean to them.
Something has to change.
We need to launch a rescue.

Loving the promo though as a 30 something won’t be able to go - boo! Just wanting to check the stats above though. Staggering - but relating to youth, n’est pas? I’d originally read the first stat as about 20-somethings, but on re-reading realise it’s under 20s i.e. definitely something that’s more relevant to Newday than Mobilise? Or am I missing something?
By Matt Hogg on 08/11/2011 at 18:17
Hi Ben, glad you love the promo!
Thanks for bringing out your point on the stats - I think it is of importance to both Newday and Mobilise too. We felt that as most students start aged 18, that they are included in the top end of these statistics as 18 and 19 year olds. However, this wasn’t what we primarily got from the stats. It was our overwhelming shock that there is a huge wave of teenagers heading to university over the coming years with no church background. Each year on from this survey, Freshers will be arriving at our Uni’s more and more un-churched than ever before, more in darkness than ever before and more in need of rescuing by Jesus than ever before.

Cheers Matt. Helpful. My interest was raised by a Facebook comment from a friend who looks after students and twenties at a massive church in Sheffield who’d quoted a similar but different statistic. His was focussed over 20s, here was under 20s. The over 20s stat wasn’t encouraging but not as alarming as the above: “The numbers of 20-29 year olds attending church in the UK has dropped 62% in 20 years”. The fact remains - we need to do something and so pleased you guys are giving yourselves to that task. God bless you (in the real-tangible-and-effective type way, not the that’s-a-nice-way-to-finish-a-comment type way).

Hey Guys!
When is this event? I’m looking for a date, but can’t find one. Also, do you allow exhibiting? Could I get information on your policy?
Thanks
Chris
By Matt Hogg on 19/12/2011 at 10:04
Hi Chris, Mobilise 2012 is 10-13 April. Unfortunately at the moment we don’t have any exhibition space at the venue. Thanks for getting in touch. Matt
By Rachael Robson on 03/01/2012 at 14:39
Hi could you please confirm when the first meeting is on Tues 10th and when the last meeting on Fri 13th is (for travel arrangements)? Also do you mean ‘student’ as 18+ degree level or 16+ 6th Form Student level please? Cheers!
By Matt Hogg on 09/01/2012 at 17:02
Hi Rachael, our provisional start time is 2pm on Tuesday 10th and to finish at 1245pm on Friday 13th April.
We would regards 6th Formers as Students, but there must be accompanied by some over 18s who agree to be responsible for them. Hope that helps?
By Kate Caddick on 10/01/2012 at 11:43
Hi there, just to clarify following Rachael’s post on age! Is it only open to 16+ (sixth form students), and does it make any difference as to when their birthday is? Eg, my son is 15 and doing GCSEs (so still a student) this year but some of his friends are already 16! Is it more based on academic year so anyone in 6th form is elligible and below that not? Does this make sense? Thanks, Kate
By Dan Marshall on 12/01/2012 at 17:23
Hi, Can you please tell me whether there will be any childcare or Creche facilities at this event. The promo seem to be geared to twentys without children is that because its an adult only event
By matt.hogg@thecitychurch.org.uk on 16/01/2012 at 16:02
Hi Kate, we are happy to open Mobilise to 6th Form students, but not not to those who are in year 11. We would encourage them to go to Newday. We would draw the line at school years, rather than age. Any under 18s must come with an over 18 on a ratio of 3 6th Formers to 1 responsible adult. Any queries, please contact us directly on 01227 455 440.
Hi Dan, there are no childcare of creche facilities provided by Mobilise. Delegates may book a baby in a travel cot (not provided) free of charge who we will need to place in the lounge room (double sofa bed) as the twin rooms are too small for a cot. Pontins have a number of childrens facilities on site. If you would like to book a space for an older child in a bed, then you will need to contact us directly to book the bed and pay for the accommodation only (as they will not be attending the conference). Hope that makes sense.

Hi, I have booked into mobilise, and put my friends’ names down saying that I want to share with them, but with the apartments having sold out, they cannot book in.. how would we be able to share an apartment if they can’t book in even though I have put their names down???
By Suzie on 04/03/2012 at 22:37
Hi
I am interested in coming to Mobilise. But I am a bit concerned as I am 29 and don’t know if I will feel like I am bit too old for itI I just wondered if you are able to let me know if it is likely that there will be many people in their 20’s (preferably 24+) coming?
Thanks
Suzie
By Matt Hogg on 05/03/2012 at 17:22
Hi Chloe, if you can contact wendy.owen @ newfrontierstogether.org we can see what we can do to try and sort it out.
Hi Suzie, unfortunately we don’t gather the ages of people when they book in, but I can say that 1/3 of our delegates are not students. I hope that helps.

Hi Chloe, I’m sorry you’ve not yet had a response. Wendy will eventually get back to you but it may be worth sending her another email to get yourself back to the top of her inbox!

Hi,
Who will be leading the Worship this year?
Looks like an amazing week in store!
By Matt Hogg on 26/03/2012 at 17:39
Hi Bethan - we’ve just published the itinerary here: http://mobiliseuk.org/blog/article/mobilise_2012_itineray
Hi Richard, worship is being led by Simon Brading, Jules Burt and Olly Knight. We’re really excited about what God is going to reveal to us all during the week too!
By Tim Windsor Brown on 27/03/2012 at 00:07
Hi Matt,
I have a friend who lives nearby and would love to come for a day, is there any way he could get a day pass? Obviously he’d be willing to pay for it.
Thanks,
Tim
By Matt Hogg on 28/03/2012 at 14:45
Hi Tim, I’m sorry but as we’ve just sold out we won’t be having day tickets available.

Hi, I visited a New Frontiers church on Sunday and saw this event being advertised. It’s SO great to find a church not ignoring students and young people in their 20’s! But actually organinsing an event to encourage and support us in our walk of faith. I see this even is sold out- are you planning on doing any more events like this later in the year? Or is their a newsletter of facebook page I can join which notifies me on such events. Hope it all goes well it sounds great.
Emma.

Anyone know if there’ll be wifi at the site? And if so, is it free?! Thanks
By Matt Hogg on 07/04/2012 at 12:51
Hi Emma, the Mobilise event is currently an annual event - so no plans at present to do one again this year! You can join our Facebook page (http://facebook.com/mobilise) or twitter stream (http://twitter.com/mobilise) to keep up to date with what’s happening.
Hi Mel, I’m afraid there’s no free wifi on site. According to the BT Openzone website there is a hotspot in the reception area. Please visit http://btopenzone.com for more info and prices.

By Ange on 08/04/2012 at 19:51
Hi,
Do I assume kitchens come with equipment pans, plates, cutlery etc. (enough for the amount of people in each apartment), so we can cook for ourselves if we want to? I know I should probably just assume they do, but wanted to check!?
Cheers, Ange
By Matt Hogg on 09/04/2012 at 13:07
Hi KG, the full programme is available online here: http://mobiliseuk.org/blog/article/mobilise_2012_itineray
Hi Ange, there are plates, cutlery and pans in the kitchens, along with a few knives and cooking utensils. If you have a favourite utensil or pan though, I would bring it!
